Welcome, Brandywine families! It is an honor to be your Principal and I look forward to serving the students, families, and staff with an unmatched energy and enthusiasm. I pride myself on being present, transparent, and a strong communicator. In my 15 years of education and 12 years of experience in school administration, I have found the importance of servant leadership and how it leads to success within a school community. As a Brandywine resident, I take the responsibility of raising our children seriously. I have strong beliefs surrounding education which are that all students can learn and need our attention across a wide spectrum of abilities, strong relationships between students and staff are grounded in respect for one another, safety of students and staff is of the utmost importance, and we will work to help students learn academically, but also socially and behaviorally which will include a multi-tiered system of support.
I could not be prouder to lead a Bulldog staff that is committed to providing a high-quality education to a diverse group of students. Through our collective efforts we will ensure that students have the best possible high school experience.

Ms. Jahsha Tabron
Assistant Principal
Jahsha Tabron’s career in education began 25 years ago at Brandywine High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education from Delaware State University and a Master’s in School Leadership and Administration from Wilmington University. Jahsha Tabron is a dedicated wife and mother to three children. She is committed to building community relationships and fostering an environment where students feel welcomed and encouraged to develop a love of learning. In 2022, Jahsha Tabron was honored as the Delaware State Teacher of the Year, a testament to her exemplary dedication and leadership in education. She is an educational ambassador known for her unwavering pursuit of excellence and her pride in being associated with Brandywine High School, where her journey began. Jahsha Tabron continues to inspire and uplift others in education through her passion, achievements, and ongoing commitment to educational excellence.
Mr. Robert Holt
Assistant Principal
Mr. Holt brings a wealth of experience and a passion for education to our Bulldog family. He earned his Bachelor's in Behavioral Sciences in 2017 while gaining invaluable experience as a paraprofessional. Continuing his educational journey, Mr. Holt enrolled in the ARTC program at the University of Delaware, obtaining his teaching certificate in Special Education and Social Studies.
Mr. Holt's teaching career flourished at Newark High School, where he taught a diverse array of subjects including World History, U.S History, and served as a Cambridge World Civics and AVID Instructor. In 2021, he furthered his commitment to educational leadership by earning a Master's in Educational Leadership from Wilmington University, culminating in his role as Dean of Students at Newark High School.
Mr. Holt is thrilled to bring his dedication and expertise to Brandywine High School for the 2024-2025 school year. He looks forward to supporting the BHS community and fostering an environment where all students can thrive.
Dr. Eryn Smith
Assistant Principal
I have worked in education in Maryland and in Delaware for the past 20 years. I served as an elementary school teacher for many years, and I have extensive experience working with diverse student populations. As a teacher-leader, I served as a staff development teacher, focusing on providing instructional support and professional development for staff. I continued to support students and families as a Dean of Students and then as Assistant Principal at P.S. duPont and Talley Middle Schools, with my most recent tenure serving as principal for two years at Claymont Elementary School. These experiences have equipped me with a profound understanding of how to best support and educate students in today’s educational environment. Simply put, I love working with all students, and I firmly believe that when we maximize learning opportunities for ALL children, we encourage and promote the overall growth and development of each and every child.
My educational philosophy centers on fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where students feel safe, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. I strongly believe in the importance of collaboration and open communication among all stakeholders—parents, teachers, staff members, and students—to create a strong educational community that centers itself around rich academics and even stronger community connections.
Family is one of the things that keeps me grounded. I not only work in the Brandywine School District community, but I am also a parent of twin high school students and a Talley Tiger. What my amazing husband, children, and I value most as a family is quality time. We use our time to go on adventures and make memories. Besides spending time with my family and traveling, I also enjoy cooking and exploring new restaurants.
John Norton
Assistant Principal
Mr. Norton is a Wilmington native. After graduating from Glasgow High School he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management and Master’s degrees in Special Education and in School Leadership from Wilmington University. He began his career in education in the Red Clay School District, where he taught Jobs for Delaware Graduates, Economics, Civics, World History, History of Film, Contemporary Political Issues, Military History, and he was a Student Advisor.
Mr. Norton previously served as a Dean of Students and Assistant Principal at Mount Pleasant High School He is excited to serve in the support and growth of all students at Brandywine High School as an Assistant Principal.
DeAndre Hutt
Dean of Students
DeAndre Hutt is a Delaware native with 13 years of experience in education and a strong commitment to student success, educational leadership, and fostering positive school communities. After graduating from Delaware State University, he began his career in education with the Christina School District.
In 2016, DeAndre joined the Brandywine School District as a paraeducator. While gaining invaluable experience supporting students with diverse learning needs, he continued his professional journey by enrolling in the Alternative Routes to Certification (ARTC) program at Wilmington University. Through the program, he earned his teaching certifications in Special Education and English.
In 2019, DeAndre began his teaching career at Brandywine High School, continuing to support students with varying learning needs while taking on numerous leadership roles. Throughout his time at Brandywine, he has served as Special Education Department Chair, Class Advisor, Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) Coordinator, and Acting Dean of Students. Beyond the school day, DeAndre is passionate about mentoring young people through athletics, using basketball as a platform to teach leadership, accountability, teamwork, and resilience.
DeAndre is committed to creating a school environment where every student feels supported, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential. He is excited to continue partnering with students, families, and staff to ensure Brandywine High School remains The Place To Be!
